This study entitled ‘Types of Rules and Sound Phenomena in Kurdish Language’ investigates some roots and sound aspects in Kurdish Language. Studying the sound rules aims at measuring their impact on word and phrase formation processes, as well as knowing any possible changes that might happen to them.. Though this, it is attempted to specify the qualities and the rules of sound phenomena in Kurdish Language. This will help to recognize the similarities as well as the differences between these rules in Kurdish and other languages.

The aim of this study is to explore the possible changes, through assimilation, in Kurdish sounds. This study consists of an introduction with three parts. Part one critically reviews the phonemic assimilation rules in general and then specifically in Kurdish language. Part two studies the compatibility and incompatibility of these phonemic rules with giving practical examples. Part three covers sound creation. Finally, come conclusions are drawn and a list of references is presented.
