Abstract

The research aims at the following: First, designing and modifying some basic
skills tests for free swimming for students of faculties and departments of physical
education in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Second, finding standard grades for the

tests examined for the sample of the research. The researchers adopted the descriptive
approach in the survey method, And the departments of physical education in the
universities of the Kurdistan Region - Iraq, who study swimming, which fall within
the courses that must be taught by students swimming for the academic year (2014 -
2015) and the number of (539) students of the original community, (7), which
included universities (Salaheddine, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, Kouya, Zakho, Karamian,
Halabja), except for the University of Suran and the Department of Physical
Education at the University of Karamian. (180) students, representing the sample of
construction and application, were randomly selected in a systematic manner
(33.39%) of the society of origin, and 10 students were approved as a pilot sample for
the first experimental experiment of the students of the Physical Education
Department University of Sulaymaniyah and (30) students as a sample of the second
pilot experiment of the students of the Department of Irrigation Education The basic
skills of free swimming were determined by sources and references and then the
design of testing and modifying some of them and presenting them to the experts and
specialists to nominate the tests that can get the degree of agreement (75%) and
above as a condition of admission and after the nomination of the tests The
researchers conducted two experiments, the first one to match the tests to the sample
of the research and identify the difficulties that can be faced by the testers. The
second pilot experiment is to find the scientific basis for the tests (application I and
II), and after confirming the readiness of tests Candidate The main experiment was
conducted on the research sample and the data was processed statistically using the
statistical package system. Several conclusions were reached, including the
following:
Third: To find criteria for the tests examined for the sample of the research to
evaluate the basic skills in free swimming for students of faculties and departments of
physical education in the universities of the Kurdistan Region - Iraq. In light of the
conclusions, the researchers recommended that: First, the adoption of the tests and
their criteria in evaluating the level of students of physical education in the subject of
free swimming. Second: Conduct similar research in other swimming methods.
