This research presents an analytical study of the life of the Baghdadi historian and writer Ibrahim Fasih al-Haydari, a prominent figure in the intellectual movement in Baghdad during the nineteenth century. It seeks to highlight his intellectual stature and his role in documenting the intellectual, social, and political life of his era. The study stems from a scholarly problem: the limited number of comprehensive academic studies that have addressed his life, works, and writing methodology. Furthermore, there are discrepancies in some information concerning his life and writings, and a lack of a comprehensive, systematic analysis of his scholarly output within its historical context. The importance of this research lies in re-examining his legacy as a significant source for studying the history of modern Iraq and Baghdad's cultural life, as well as its contribution to highlighting the role of local scholars in shaping historical and social consciousness. The research aims to examine his intellectual development, analyze his intellectual and literary standing, explore his historical and literary works, and demonstrate the influence of his social environment and scholarly connections on the formation of his intellectual vision. The study employed a historical approach to examine his chronological context, a descriptive-analytical approach to analyze his scholarly output, and a method of analyzing classical texts to understand his writing style. It also utilized comparative and documentary methods to verify information and compare it with sources from his contemporaries. The study concluded that al-Haydari represents a model of the encyclopedic scholar who combined religious, literary, and historical knowledge, and whose works contributed to documenting the cultural and social transformations in Iraq during the nineteenth century. The study recommends the necessity of conducting a modern scholarly edition of his works and expanding comparative studies on his historical methodology and his role in the Baghdad cultural movement.
