Amjad al-Zahawi is considered one of the important Iraqi Kurdish figures. He played a significant role in Iraq, particularly during the British occupation and the subsequent Iraqi monarchy, resisting the occupation. After the establishment of the Iraqi state in 1921, he contributed to intellectual activity and was one of the founders of the Muslim Brotherhood movement in Iraq, establishing the Islamic Brotherhood Association, which continued its work from 1944 to 1954. Regarding his relationships with Iraqi politicians during the monarchy, he had a strong relationship with Nuri al-Said, the Prime Minister of Iraq at the time, and also maintained good relations with King Faisal II of Iraq (1953-1958). He was deeply saddened by the July 14, 1958 coup. After the communists seized power in Abdul Karim Qasim's government in 1959, Amjad al-Zahawi took a stance against communism. He had a good relationship with the religious seminaries in Najaf and met with them on several occasions to oppose communism. He also took a position on the Palestinian issue after the establishment of the Zionist entity in 1948, serving as its president. He was involved with the Palestine Rescue Society, and he also contributed to supporting the struggle of the Algerian people, as well as the Islamic movements in Morocco. He participated in religious conferences and seminars in most Arab and Islamic countries.
