Since the founding of Baghdad, Kurds settled in the city for two main reasons. First, their descendants, who became a cornerstone of Islamic civilization, formed a fundamental pillar of the city, particularly due to their significant influence in the fields of religion and Sufism. Baghdad became a vital center of Islamic civilization, which in turn affected the status of Kurdish scholars there.
The role of Kurdish scholars in Baghdad was prominent as both teachers and students in various branches of knowledge, especially in Islamic law and the dissemination of the Shafi'i school of thought. It can be said that although Baghdad was an Arab capital, the influence of the Kurdish population on the city's scholars and rulers was evident throughout its history.
