Abstract

This paper is an attempt to highlight the beauty and role of watercolor painting on plaster (fresco) in Islamic art.  Watercolor painting on plaster (fresco) is one of the methods of painting that has an ancient history.  Since the time of cave life، man has painted as a way to express his feelings.  Over time، painting has used many different techniques and methods، including watercolor on plaster (fresco).

  The word “Fresco” is originally an Italian word meaning “fresh” in Kurdish and “Fresh” in English.  It involves drawing with watercolor on plaster، which is still wet (fresh) and not dry. The plaster absorbs the watercolor and then the painting is fixed on it.

  The city of Kifri has not been deprived of this kind of art. Mohsen Agha's house، which dates back to three centuries ago، is a living example of introducing watercolor paintings on plaster (fresco) in Kifri It is in poor condition and is on the verge of destruction، except for the ground floor room، which we focus on it in this study.

  The house is beautifully painted and includes a variety of subjects such as city، animals and plants، and the use of geometric patterns to divide the area of the floors.
