Abstract

Cultural genocide, or culture killing, refers to actions and policies aimed at erasing the cultural identities of nations or ethnic groups, primarily by dismantling their national and cultural essence. Closely related to ethnocide, it has manifested historically against minorities and diverse cultural practices, evidenced in the persecution of Jews by the Nazis, the oppression of Armenians and Kurds by the Turks, and more examples.

This research paper will examine the history and phases of cultural genocide, using case studies to analyze the destruction of religion, customs, language, and attire. A key focus will be on Kfri, where we will explore elements of local life that define its cultural identity, particularly those that have been systematically eradicated.
