Abstract

The district of Salahiyah is one of the administrative centers in the Shahrazur district of the Mosul province during the Ottoman era. Due to the importance of its geographical location, as it was close to the Safavid borders and the Ottoman-Safavid influence struggle on the borders was an integral part of the comprehensive historical conflict between the two states, Salahiyah received great attention from the Ottoman state and its administrative and military institutions. Therefore, through this research paper, we try to shed light on some of the historical aspects of the district of Salahiyah, based on reading and extrapolating the documents that exist and are preserved in the Ottoman archives. We tried to highlight the extent of the Ottomans’ interest in this region from administrative, political and military aspects.
