This research discusses the issue of Kurdish identity in the poetic texts of Sherko Bekas, considering it one of the most prominent problems facing a people trying to preserve their cultural and social identity in the face of complex challenges. While these challenges are intertwined with the historical, political, cultural, and economic factors that Kurdistan has experienced throughout history, the identity crisis is one of the issues Sherko Bekas addresses in his poems, which reflect the identity struggle between independence and alienation, and between a lost homeland and an imaginary homeland.
This research consists of two parts. The first part discusses the concept and definition of Kurdish identity, the role and importance of identity in Kurdish poetry, language and relationship with identity. The second part discusses the types of identity in the poet's poems and gives examples for each type, as well as the characteristics of the identity crisis in Sherko Bekas's poetry.
