Abstract

Identifying acceptable areas to handle urban garbage, particularly solid waste after work and people's daily requirements, is one of the most difficult challenges for planners because of the consequences, which eventually lead to the difficulty of picking the ideal place to store enormous volumes of waste. Research area Soran and Ruandz are two cities that have experienced rapid growth in terms of residential area and population. Of course, this growth is the primary cause of the increase in garbage, treatment, and burial, which has caused a number of issues. As a result, the research is important because it collects all of the necessary data, such as groundwater, flow direction, and geological structure, and then incorporates it into a geographical information system program. The primary goal of this study is to suggest sample sites for landfilling in the central districts of Soran and Ruandz. Its basic findings indicate that the majority of the suitable land for solid waste burial is located in Khalifan district, Alan Valley, and a small portion is located in Syedkan district in the Hert plain with a total area of 524.75 square kilometers. All the sample sites that are suitable for landfilling were identified during the modeling using the prepared database, taking into account the natural and human characteristics with the direction of urban expansion as well as the wind direction.
