The Middle East novel is one of the novels that tells about the life of a prisoner before and after his release from prison. It also tells about the physical and psychological torture he is subjected to inside and outside the prison. Our hero (Rajab) inside the prison lost his lover and then his mother. After his release, he lost his youth and his passion for life. He lost himself, nothing makes him happy in this life. The Saudi writer Abdul Rahman Munif wrote this novel in the year 1972, where he was able to depict for us the prisoner’s life as it was and how it became, and he was able to convey to us the prisoner’s suffering in a real way, as if we were the ones living this harsh experience, and making the reader feel this feeling is due to the writer’s genius in conveying the events. And the viewer is upon us. The writer depicted for us the elements of the novel in an intelligent way, making the novel as if it were a cinematic film that we are watching before our eyes. This makes it one of the novels that can be turned into a successful cinematic work. Therefore, in this research, we focused on the editing technique, which is one of the most important techniques in cinematic work, and we set a prelude to the research. In it, we talked about the concept of montage and its relationship to novels and cinema. Then we divided the research into two sections. In the first section, we talked about the mechanisms of montage (shot, cutting, arrangement), where we referred to the types of shots and how these shots are cut and arranged. Then we came with applied models. From the novel to these mechanisms and we analyzed them. As for the second section, we found that it is necessary to talk about the types of montage in this novel, and there are many types, but we were satisfied with nine types that we talked about and we came up with applied models for each type of novel and we analyzed them, and at the end of the research we indicated several conclusions that we reached. To it, and then we wrote the most important sources that we relied on in this research.
