Abstract


The study aims to focus on the role of social network (Facebook) as an example in achieving environmental development. It focuses on the approaches used by students on the (Facebook) page that indicate their interest in the environment. With the noticeable climate changes that have an impact on the lives of individuals and become a topic of interest in the educational spheres, though, there have been many means that are used to achieve environmental development, but among the most important of these are using social network sites that have become a source for finding information, publishing articles and videos, creating groups, and are used by different age groups, especially the young groups. The younger generation is among the most users, especially of (Facebook), so in this study we shed light on the (Facebook) platform and ways of using it to achieve environmental development by this group. The study reached number of results, the most important the students are interested in the topics published about the environment on the (Facebook) page, and they use different methods, such as writing about environmental topics, commenting on these topics, and sharing and liking environmental topics. The study concluded that (Facebook) has a role to play in promoting environmental education for students. This is done through posts published on (Facebook).
