Abstract


This research entitled Folk Medicine and Natural Herbal Treatment in Sulaimani between the years (1957 – 1987) discusses the folk medicine in Sulaimani and the stages of development and the degree of dependence of the citizens of the city on these people They have worked in the field, which has become their main occupation for some of them and has been passed down from parents to their children. The main question of this study is whether the method of treatment by medicine With the passage of time and the development of society and new medical science and the increase in the number of doctors and hospitals, hasn't traditional medicine lost its position? Therefore, this study has answered some of these questions, especially by conducting interviews with (attar and surgeons) who have worked in this field and continue their work, at the end of the study He emphasizes several points that indicate the difference between traditional medicine and real medicine. This research consists of six main topics, each topic discusses an aspect of folk medicine such as (physicians and surgeons, experts in the field of herbs and perfumes, barbers, midwives, dentists, clergymen, shrines, and shrines, all of which together constitute national medicine.
